Benete, September 27, 2019 - The Alam Asri Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) received the 2019 Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Award (ISTA) from the Ministry of Tourism in the category of Economic Utilization for Local Communities yesterday (26/9) at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta. Pokdarwis Alam Asri is one of the working groups under the guidance of Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara ("Amman Mineral") through the development of Jelenga Beach tourism object in Jereweh District, West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Pokdarwis Alam Asri was chosen as one of the 5 winners because it is considered to have an environmental preservation and community-based tourist destination development. Pokdarwis Alam Asri was also the only participant from Sumbawa Island included in the ISTA award nomination among 362 other participants from all over Indonesia.

According to Jarot, the development of the Pokdarwis Alam Asri is one form of the community development program synergy carried out by Amman Mineral with the KSB government in the field of tourism.
Amman Mineral assists the development of the Pokdarwis Alam Asri by providing various tourism facilities on Jelenga Beach, working capital, mentoring and strengthening management capacity through tourism business management training. Meanwhile, Pokdarwis institutional strengthening was carried out by the West Sumbawa Regency Tourism Office.
"West Sumbawa is very rich in a variety of tourism potentials, including beaches with their unique characteristics, such as waves, white sand, and weather that is suitable for paragliding. Some of the beaches here are even close to the Batu Hijau mine site where we operate. We hope that we can further develop the existing potential natural wealth through collaboration with various parties to give the maximum benefits for the development of West Sumbawa,"Jarot added.
"Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Award" (ISTA) is an award from the Ministry of Tourism for destinations that have implemented a sustainable tourism system. The ISTA event has been held by the Ministry of Tourism for the third time this year and is open to all tourist destination managers, both area managers, travel agents, service providers, foundations, and the local community.
