West Sumbawa, August 12, 2019 - – In commemorating the Environment Day, Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara ("Amman Mineral") held a "Clean Up Day" event engaging the community members around the Batu Hijau mine, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Besides being attended by Amman Mineral and Alliance employees, the event held on Friday (9/8) was also participated in by students of elementary, junior high school, high school / vocational school students and PKK groups and housewives in Maluk District. Clean Up Day is one of a series of programs implemented by the company to raise awareness to preserve and protect the environmental.

Anita Avianty, Head of Corporate Communications of Amman Mineral, said, "The theme raised for this year's World Environment Day is" Beat Air Pollution ". Air and waste pollution, especially plastic waste, is the most serious environmental problem we face today, including in Indonesia which is also the largest producer of plastic waste in the world. It is high time that we all reduced the use of disposable plastic items. "Anita added," A clean, healthy and beautiful environment is everyone's dream, but unfortunately until now public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, one of which being by reducing the use of disposable plastic packages. The use of disposable plastic goods makes the earth's burden heavier because plastic discharged into the environment cannot be decomposed quickly by nature. Through the campaign and training on waste management, we hope that colleagues or family members would be able to pass the message to the wider public."

The training offered by the company focused on how to make compost, nursery and create recycled waste into valuable products. The company also held an exhibition and bazaar of environmentally friendly products by inviting AVANI company from Bali, a provider of environmentally friendly material products in the form of degradable bags, cups, pipettes, and food packages made from cassava, bagasse, corn and others. Various products from recycled waste, various foods without plastic packaging, trigona honey from reclamation forest cultivation were also displayed in the exhibition.

Monitoring, evaluation and coaching to participating schools conducted by Amman Mineral as an effort to improve the quality of the environment of the School, especially in the form of the waste management program at school, shows encouraging results because it has been proven to reduce the production of plastic waste. Schools that are considered successful and get the highest grades will be given assistance from the company in the form of waste management facilities.

As the culmination of the Clean Up Day program the company held a fun walk while picking up plastic trash along the route followed. The Fun Walk was participated in by more than 1000 participants, including employees, business partners, student groups, communities and the district government of Maluk. The fun walk starts from the Benete parking lot and finishes at Maluk Beach. During the event the participants managed to collect about 15m cubic of plastic waste.
