Jakarta, April 9, 2019 - PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara ("Amman Mineral") won 2 awards at the same time at The 11th Asian Global CSR Summit and Good Governance Awards, namely the Platinum award for the category of Best Corporate Communications & IR and the Silver award for the category of Best Environmental Excellence Award in Sarawak, Malaysia, on April 4, 2019. The awards were presented by YB Dato Sri Hajjah Fatimah Abdullah, Malaysian Minister of Virtue, Community Welfare, Women, Family and Child Development. The Global CSR Summit & Good Governance Awards is an award presentation event organized by Pinnacle Group International and attended by 220 participants from various industrial fields around the world.
"These awards will, certainly, motivate us to demonstrate our best and responsible commitments in conducting our Batu Hijau mining activities that are managed in line with the world-class standards with the full support of all our employees," explained Rachmat Makkasau, President Director of Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
The Platinum award for the category of Best Corporate Communications & IR is given to Amman Mineral for having successfully communicated its "Bersatu Bisa" internal program to all its employees and business partners during 2018. The Bersatu Bisa Program is a program aimed at internalizing the company's vision, mission and core values for all employees and business partners in Amman Mineral. In its implementation, communication activities were also carried out through various value creation programs in which all employees and business partners offered ideas and innovations to improve effectiveness and efficiency which could ultimately produce a positive impact on business performance in all fields of operations of the Batu Hijau mine. The company also rewarded employees proven capable of realizing the idea from their value creation and delivering results that exceed the standards set by the company.
We have conducted our internal "Bersatu Bisa" program through a number of interesting programs so that Amman Mineral’s employees and business partners are able to make the company's vision, mission, and core values a guideline in their daily conduct and behavior in carrying out responsible mining practices at the Batu Hijau mine. This is one of the programs carried out to realize the Amman Mineral vision, "Rachmat Makkasau added.
The Silver Award for the category of "Best Environmental Excellence Award" is given for the environmental management programs conducted by Amman Mineral in managing the Batu Hijau mine, including the reclamation program in the former Batu Hijau mine area. The reclamation program has been conducted by Amman Mineral concurrently with the mining process, where the company has succeeded in reclaiming more than 700 hectares of ex-mining land of 2,722.45 hectares of land cleared for mining areas and other mining support facilities. The success indicators assessed include the size of the land that has been reclaimed, the number, types and density of trees in the reclamation area, the number of local animals that inhabit the reclaimed areas, including birds under the category of protected and threated for extinction.
