Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara and Business Partner Alliance Provide Assistance for Earthquake Victims in West Sumbawa

Amman Mineral is committed to taking on social responsibility and care for community members impacted by earthquake

Taliwang – West Sumbawa, August 30, 2018 - PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (“Amman Mineral”) and Business Partner Alliance have symbolically handed over assistance for earthquake victims in the West Sumbawa area following an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 striking West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday (19/8). The assistance with a total value of IDR1.1 billion given in the form of goods and equipment required by the people of West Sumbawa following the earthquake has been and will be handed over by Sr. Manager Social Responsibility Amman Mineral, Syarafuddin Jarot and received directly by the Regent (Bupati) of West Sumbawa, Dr. Ir. H. W. Musyafirin, M.M., and witnessed by the Minister of Social Affairs of RI, Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, M.Si, who was on a working visit to the West Nusa Tenggara province.

Apart from the goods and equipment, Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance have also provided assistance in the form of the provision of health services by doctors and paramedics, emergency MCK (public bath, wash place and toilet) facilities, acceleration of the rehabilitation process by allocating heavy equipment to help clean up debris in areas determined by the local government, and running a trauma healing program including a trauma healing training program for local facilitators in the affected areas.

Syarafuddin Jarot said, "Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance expressed their deep and heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the victims of a series of earthquakes that have shaken the West Nusa Tenggara region for nearly one month. As part of the company’s care and social responsibility, following the earthquake we have been working in coordination with relevant agencies and the local government to identify the forms of assistance needed and determine the targets of distribution in the impacted areas.”

On the occasion the Regent of West Sumbawa, Dr. Ir. H. W. Musyafirin, M.M. said, "Representing the Regional Government of West Sumbawa Regency, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the attention paid and care shown by all employees and Management of Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance. Hopefully the assistance provided can be utilized properly and reduce the burden on the people affected by this disaster.”

Jarot explained further, "The assistance provided by Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance may not meet all the needs of the earthquake victims. However, we are doing our best in accordance with the company’s capacity to help the affected community members. We hope that this initiative can be followed by other parties to jointly help reduce some of the difficulties facing those affected by this disaster. "Jarot also added," In the near future Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance will also hand over assistance to affected community members in the Sumbawa Regency. "

As we are aware that a series of earthquake have shaken the NTB region since Sunday (7/29) starting with an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 impacting significantly North Lombok, followed by another one with a magnitude of 6.9 which occurred on Sunday (8/19) ) in the East Lombok region which also had a significant impact on the West Sumbawa and Sumbawa Besar regions. Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance have been providing humanitarian assistance since the first earthquake occurred in Lombok by deploying a Disaster Response Team consisting of a Rescue Team, Health Team and Logistics Team. The Health Team of Amman Mineral and Business Partner Alliance have been providing health services to more than 1,425 people in the impacted areas.
