Sumbawa Barat, December 4, 2017 - Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) received an award in the category of the Best Practices in Mineral Distribution in the prestigious ASEAN mining award event held by the Secretariat of ASEAN in a series of ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar in 30 November 2017
“We thank the Government for having chosen AMNT to represent Indonesian in the AMA and for the Government’s active role in continuously collaborating with us in conducting operations in accordance with the environmental standards, work safety and operational safety at Batu Hijau enabling us to be a company of national pride,” said President Director of AMNT Rachmat Makkasau.
Rachmat added that the success earned by AMNT has been attributable to the support and cooperation from its employees, the regional governments, business partners and other stakeholders.
AMNT whose shares are fully owned by Indonesian shareholders received the highest score on the economic distribution resulted from the safe, effective and efficient operations of Batu Hijau, enabling the company to bring maximum benefits to all stakeholders through fiscal revenues, infrastructure development, capacity building and social and cultural programs for the community. Since it commenced its operations from 2000 to 2016, Batu Hijau has made contributions between 25% and 37% in gross revenues to the province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and between 75% and 99% of Gross Regional Domestic Revenues of the West Sumbawa Regency.
Apart from being the best copper concentrate distributor in Asia and the world, in terms of information distribution AMNT is the first Indonesian mining company which is transparent through its “Batu Hijau Bootcamp” program and use of social media such as Facebook (approximately 200 thousand followers), twitter (approximately 13 thousand followers) and instagram (more than 4,500 followers) as its information distribution media. In respect of the first and transparent communication initiative, AMNT received a “Golden World Award” from International Public Relations Associations in the category of Reputation & Brand Management Online.
ASEAN Mineral Awards is the first activity held by Asean Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals participated in by some mining companies in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

The award acknowledges any contribution involving actual impacts in community development, on ASEAN mineral supplies, HRD development, resources efficiency and effectiveness as well as real efforts to realize health, safety and environmental performance.
The award consists of 3 categories, namely Best Practices in Minerals Mining (including quarrying), Best Practices in Minerals Processing (including smelting) and Best Practices in Minerals Distribution (including transportation, handling and storage).
